Lion Village. Interactive Installation

Street Art
Kampung Singa, Singapore Art Week. Mixed media, Site Specific Construction
curated by Khai Hori. Kampung Singa, translated, Lion Village, is an installation inspired by days of Singapore’s past, a time when kampungs or villages existed and provided space, greenery and sanctuary.  There is also the phrase “balik kampung” or “go home”, a colloquial phrase commonly used by army boys, and everyone Singaporean. Presented raw and rustic, this human-scaled cabin-like installation is fitted out with a bench and built with rustin wooden materials evocative of a typical kampung house, providing visitors with a sanctuary, and some respite from the day at the end of Lock Road.
